New in 2023, for the first time in the history of the FIA WRC, which stretches back more than 50 years, a round of the world championship was be held in three different countries.  Last years event attracted around 150 000 spectators, although the event came under fire from competitors and spectators alike due to the stages being too far apart and a return to Passau for service each night.  The rally is slightly shorter overall this year at 100 kms less but with 20kms less of speial stages. Event organisers say they have optiimised the route, though it remains to be seen if it is enough to appease both the drivers and the public.
The rally follows a simmilar format to last year with a Prague start then special stages take the competitors to Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. The Central European Rally finishes in Passau where the podium ceremony will also be held. Passau will again be at the heart of the rally for all four days.
